--"We only had a few vessels and we needed to develop". In 1975, a group of people came to Lianyungang from Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and so on, with autograph approval of Vice Premier Li Xiannian and simple wish of "establishing COSCO and developing COSCO". At that time, they began to establish COSCO Lianyungang.

With the spirit of "operating as quickly as possible even if working in the tent", the pioneers of COSCO Lianyungang tried their best to work. Several departments were in one rental room and two or three people used one desk. They worked outside by bus. And they lived in rental loft and work shed at the roadside without dormitory?- Everyone worked night and day and only has one wish in everybody's heart: operating as quickly as possible.

COSCO Lianyungang Branch established on July 1st, 1976.

The company formally changed the name into Lianyungang Ocean Shipping Company on May 1st, 1979.

With lasting whistle, ZHENHAI, a first ocean large ship of COSCO Lianyungang, began to operate on June 26th, 1977. And then, COSCO Qingdao also had some ships, such as LIAOHAI, LANHAI , HUANGHAI, etc.. So COSCO Lianyungang has 21 ships with the total loading capacity of 620,000 DWT and it finished volume of freight of 520,000 tons and got the benefit of RMB 18,620,000.

Lianyungang Ocean Shipping Company, a blue ship, is sailing. So from now on an international bulk cargo shipping company grew up at the east of world!
